The Forum of Private business is proud of its partner network. These partners are selected because we use them ourselves, have a good working partnership with them and because we believe they can offer the best level of help and service to our members. They are also members of ours and in the case of Business Money, they have been a member of ours for over 25 years.

Business Money advises on and connects companies with finance. Since 1993 it has worked with over 360 UK banks and finance houses and 400 more worldwide.

Business Money is able to connect our members with likeminded people who will be able to practically help members with their financial issues, from finding a suitable lender, getting practical advice on their business financial needs, providing a simple financial health check or putting members in touch with a provider who can help them raise finance for a project or issue. Business Money will report on whether you are getting the right type of finance, from an appropriate source, on competitive terms and using it for the right things.

Business Money will also help the Forum produce relevant content to help our members as well as a regular newsletter on key financial issues of the day, with a focus on selected, key business sectors and matters affecting small and micro businesses.

As always, the key to this relationship is the people and in Bob Lefroy and Sophie Grove, we have two people, heading up a small specialist team, committed to helping the Forum and its members.

Robert Lefroy enjoyed 25 years with Lloyds Bank, much of it as a front-line commercial banker. In 1987 he was appointed regional director for the south west and Wales with Canadian owned, Royal Trust Bank. In 1990 he opened a corporate finance boutique in Bristol and in 1993 he launched Business Money, winning a review in Financial Times and five subsequent personal short listings under the Business Journalist of the Year Awards before being invited to become a judge. He has travelled the world, addressing conferences for IFG, and FCI since 2006. Robert is a Fellow of The London Institute of Banking and Finance.

Sophie spent the early part of her career in both the law and insurance industries before joining Business Money in 2001. Long the backbone of the business, she has progressed her skills in both publishing, social media, marketing and management skills. In 2016 she was appointed managing director. She is responsible for developing the face of Business Money in an ever-changing world of media.

Business Money Forum Finance Check

In an increasingly complex financial world where the banks are no longer the only source of finance for larger, smaller and micro businesses, it has never been more important to ensure our members are getting the right finance on competitive terms and using it in the right way. All too often we find members who with little advice have taken the wrong finance, which is inappropriate for the purpose they have in mind and sometimes being used where a better solution costing less time and money was available. That’s why we have introduced the Business Money Forum Finance Check, a simple no obligation process that lets a business review its current financial position as well as helping them to properly plan for the future.
