Local authorities have been provided with additional funding for small businesses who have not been eligible for the current grant schemes.
Eligibility criteria will be set for the funding but local authorities need to use their local knowledge and discretion to determine which businesses should have access to this money.
The government are asking for the following businesses to be prioritised:
1. Small businesses in shared offices or workspaces.
2. Regular market traders – who don’t have their own business rates assessment.
3. B&B’s who pay council tax instead of business rates.
4. Charity properties in receipt of charitable business rates relief.
This list is intended as a guide, the LA is to determine the businesses themselves.
